Easy Headache Relief Stretches You Can Do ANYWHERE! Published on August 6, 2019
Adults will experience a headache in their lifetime. The World Health Organization says that at LEAST 50% of adults will have some sort of headache in a given year.
That’s a pretty high percentage! And anyone who’s had a splitting headache – especially migraines – knows how hard it can be to work, drive, or even focus on a conversation which an intense headache.

Let’s talk about the different kinds of headaches. There are generally 3 umbrellas of headaches and then some different types under each one. We’re going to focus on the most common 2!
Migraine headaches Cluster headaches
These are basically directly caused by something going on in your head region which is triggering a pain sensation on your scalp, eyes, sinuses etc.
Sinus headaches And traumatic headaches like concussion headaches
This means that something from outside of your head region has triggered a painful feeling. Like the kind of headache you get when you forget to drink coffee in the morning or have had one too many drinks on a Friday night out.
Like Dr. Rob mentioned, one of the most common types of headaches chiropractors see are Tension Headaches or Cervicogenic Headaches. Cervicogenic is a fancy term for ‘headaches from your neck’ and the most common muscles that cause these kinds of headaches are your Trapezius Muscle s and Suboccipital Muscles .

These headaches can be caused by poor posture, sitting for long periods of time, stress, fatigue, and even eye strain. So it’s no wonder that all of us reading this on our laptops and phones have probably experienced one of these headaches!
Luckily, these kinds of headaches (while still a pain), are completely treatable and there are steps you can take to prevent them from happening!
Here are some tried and true tips to help stop headaches as they start:
Close your eyes and relax
If you’re able to, try and find a quiet, dim place to relax. This can do wonders for a budding headache. Overloading your already hurting brain can make a headache worse!
Do some stretches!
Try Dr. Rob’s stretches. I swear they work wonders, especially when I can’t find time to get away from my desk, a few seconds of these stretches really helps stop my headaches before they even start Warm up your neck.
Try getting those tense neck muscles to relax with a heating pad! Make sure to wrap any hot packs in a towel to prevent any burns on your skin.
Find out your triggers.
